Lady Bearcats look for revenge in South Callaway Tournament

Andy Emmons’ Hermann’s Lady Bearcats will see a steady diet of Callaway County girls basketball next week.

During next week’s South Callaway Girls Basketball Tournament in Mokane, Hermann drew the second seed and was placed in Pool ‘B’ along with the third-seed North Callaway Lady Thunderbirds and sixth-seeded host Lady Bulldogs.

Teams making up Pool ‘A’ will be the top-seeded Montgomery County Lady Wildcats, fourth-seeded Russellville Lady Indians and the fifth-seeded Linn Wildcats.

Pool action for Hermann (7-2) will begin Monday, Jan. 8 against the host Lady Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m., inside the South Callaway High School (SCHS) gym.

The Lady Bearcats will conclude pool play on Thursday, Jan. 11 when they will face the Lady Thunderbirds at 4:30 p.m., inside the South Callaway Middle School (SCMS) gym.

If Hermann’s scores a sweep of both Callaway County squads, they will likely earn another shot at Montgomery County’s Lady Wildcats in next Saturday’s championship game at 4 p.m., at SCHS.

One of Hermann’s two losses on the season came at the hands of the Lady Wildcats during the championship game of the Montgomery County Girls Basketball Tournament held earlier this season.

Before trekking to Mokane next week, Emmons’ Lady Bearcats will host the Lady Bulldogs tomorrow (Thursday) in a game that was rescheduled due to a scheduling conflict.

Varsity action will tip at 6 p.m., and will be followed by a two-quarter junior varsity game at Hermann High School.

HHS will also have a Friday road test at Warrenton as part of a tripleheader.
