Larry Nolan Jenkins, 75, of Owensville, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Washington.

He was born Feb. 20, 1948, to Karl and Juanita (Matlock) Jenkins in St. Louis.

He was united in marriage to Sharon McGuire March 7, 1970, in Overland.

Sergeant Larry N. Jenkins served in the U.S. Marine Corp 1966–69 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Marine Corp. Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart Medal and multiple ribbons including the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon. He was a member of the Refuge Church of Gerald and the VFW Post 6133 in Owensville.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, and anything in the outdoors. He was a very proud U.S. Marine, earning a Purple Heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Juanita.

He is survived by wife, Sharon of their home; children, Brenda Johnson and husband Randy of Jefferson City and Jim Jenkins and wife Ashlee of Owensville; grandchildren, Joshua and wife Nina, Jacob and wife Michelle, Justine and husband Adrian and Jimmy; great-grandchildren, Jayelle, Hank, Kenny, Jordyn, Chet and Della; and siblings, Kathy Shriver and husband Norman of Belton, David Jenkins of St. Louis, and Linda Jenkins of Rolla.

His body was cremated and his cremains will be interred in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Fort Leonard Wood, Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m.

A Celebration of Life will follow at the VFW Hall in Owensville at 2 p.m.
