Linda Sue (Hicks) Rose, 71, of Owensville, passed away July 26, 2023 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.

She was born Dec. 29, 1951, a daughter to the late Wade and Eunice (Glandon) Hicks in Belle.

Linda was a lifelong area resident. She had been employed with the Labor Union #662 for over 25 years, working at the Callaway power plant for 15 years as well as many other jobs for the union. Linda was an extremely hard worker and it showed when she worked on the farm with her first husband. Never one to be outworked, she could roof as good as any man, would be in the fields bucking square bales, and then would prepare lunch and dinner for the other workers when she was done in the field. She was an amazing cook and decorator and catered many weddings through the years and prepared all the holiday dinners for her family. Although she never had children of her own, she helped raise and loved six stepchildren as well as quitting school early to help her mom, Eunice raise and care for her own siblings. She loved her nieces and nephews dearly as well. Linda was a great singer and loved to entertain. Some say she sang Patsy Cline better than Patsy. As well as a joyful reunion with her parents and siblings, the multitudes in heaven are enjoying the sound of her voice. For fun, Linda enjoyed hunting and fishing and would sit all day without getting a bite or seeing a deer to shoot. She just enjoyed being out there. Other hobbies included gardening, growing flowers, playing cards, and going to the boats. Spirited and never forgotten, Linda will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Linda is survived by brothers, Wade Hicks and partner Jill, Brady Hicks and partner Kim all of Bland, and Greg Hicks of Belle; nieces and nephews, John Crider, Patty Glandon, Tony Glandon and wife Cindy, Jessami Heintz and husband Jeffrey, Tammy Pickett and husband Fred, Kurtis Jones and wife Jenn, Jennifer Watts and husband Kevin, and Greg Hicks, Jr.; many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; aunts, Sharon Schneider and Janey Overstreet; and sisters-in-law Joanie Glandon and Teresa Hicks;  as well as many other extended family members and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by parents, Wade and Eunice; sister, Lisa Sullentrup; and brother, Tony Glandon.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at a later date and will be announced by Sassmann’s Chapel.

The family of Linda Rose would like to thank the staff of Gasconade Manor for their kindness and care for Linda through the years.
