HANNIBAL — For Jake Witthaus’ Hermann High School (HHS) golf team, it was a long trek to America’s Hometown back on Monday, May 11 for the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2, District 2 Boys Golf Tournament hosted by Monroe City High School at Norwoods Golf Club in Hannibal.

Bringing only three golfers in senior EJ Lindahl, junior Nathan Menke and junior Maggie Causey, the blue and white did not qualify for a team score as a minimum of four golfers are required to be able to post a team score.

Booking his fourth consecutive trip to the MSHSAA Class 2 Boys Golf Championships, Lindahl fired a three-over par round of 75 to place fourth individually for Hermann.

Palmyra’s Panthers and Monroe City’s Panthers placed first and second in the team standings qualifying their entire squads to Class 2 State Tournament action that began Monday in Farmington at Bogey Creek Golf Course.

Individuals joining Lindahl at state out of district two include Elsberry junior Rex Mauzy (69), Whitfield senior Bryce Schultz (72), Duchesne junior Eric Greifzu (74), Fatima sophomore Ty Brandt (76), Montgomery County senior Karter Reagan (77), North Callaway junior Anthony Russell (77), Macon senior Hagan Ritter (78), Elsberry senior Aleksander Harman (80), Belle sophomore Gage Vandegriffe (81), South Callaway sophomore Eli Hutchison (82), Belle sophomore Kelhen Struemph (82) and Duchesne junior Austin Schoene (82).

Weather and course conditions permitting, Lindahl played his second and final round yesterday (Tuesday) in Farmington.

A complete recap will be available in the post Memorial Day edition of The Republican.
