Man, woman from Bland face felony burglary charges

Posted

Franklin County detectives with the Property Crimes Unit have recovered stolen property and obtained confessions from two suspects connected with burglaries in the Union area and in Gasconade County.

A Ford F-150 pickup truck reported as stolen was recovered March 29 in Crawford County.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton announced Monday their investigation, conducted “over the course of the last several months,” resulted in the identification of two suspects, who were located and interviewed, “ultimately leading to a confession from both.”

Charges are pending against a man and a woman from Bland. Their names are not being released at this time due to “several ongoing investigations,” said Pelton.

According to Pelton, on March 26, the investigation led sheriff’s detectives to a home in the 3100 block of Idel Road east of Rosebud.

There, “detectives were granted permission by the property owner to search the property for stolen items,” Pelton noted. “After a search of the property, detectives were able to recover approximately $5,000 worth of items stolen from the burglaries that occurred inside of Franklin County. Victims associated with the property have already been identified and contacted.”

This, in turn, led detectives to a residence in the 4000 block of Highway B in Bland, where they were able to recover more stolen property from the burglaries, according to the sheriff.

He goes on to report one suspect, a male from Bland, is currently serving time in the Missouri Department of Corrections for crimes unrelated to this case. Charges are being sought against him for two counts of second-degree burglary and one count of tampering with a motor vehicle.

Two counts of second-degree burglary are also being sought on the second suspect, a female from Bland.

Franklin County’s Property Crimes Unit was assisted in their investigation by sheriff’s deputies from Crawford, Maries, and Gasconade counties. Pelton thanked each agency “for their assistance in this matter.”
