Mary Margaret Barkey, 73, Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.
She was born July 27, 1952, to the late Alfred M. and Margaret L. (Boyer) Coghlan in St. Charles.
She was united in marriage to David Barkey on Aug. 29, 2008, in Jefferson City.
Mary enjoyed horseback riding, reading and watching TV, and caring for her animals.
She was preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Margaret; and brothers, Alfred Jr. and David Coghlan.
Mary is survived by husband, Dave; daughters, Patty Chapman and husband Cory of Bland, Linda Ternes and husband Dave of Walnut Shade and Suzanne Shafer and husband Russ of Jefferson City; son, William Arnold and wife Casey of Owensville; grandchildren, Caitlyn Backer and husband Landen, Jonathan Ternes and wife Molly, Jacob Ternes and wife Jaicee, Joshua Ternes, Anna Weldon and Jordan and Maxwell Heying; and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Sutton, Greyson and Octavia.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 3, at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville,with Pastor Jeff Remelius officiating.
Interment was in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Owensville. Arrangements entrusted to Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville.
