Mary Ellen Mitchell, 92, of Owensville, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at Gasconade Manor Nursing Home in Owensville.
She was born Sept. 15, 1931, to Marvin and Myrtle (Dunnegan) Scaggs in Ellington.
She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Earl Mitchell, June 4, 1955.
Mary enjoyed sewing, crocheting, shopping, and listening to country music. When her children were young, she was always eager to see that they could be involved in playing sports or music if that was something they showed interest in.
She was preceded in death by parents, Marvin and Myrtle; husband, Robert “Bob;” son, Terry Mitchell; son-in-law, Michael “Mac” McBride; brothers, Tolman and Bernice Scaggs; and sisters, Wilma Claxton and Evelyn Haley.
She is survived by daughters, Sue Mitchell of Bridgeton, Barbara McBride of Rosebud, Lisa Luley and husband Dan of Florissant, and Linda Mitchell of St. Ann; brother, Layman Scaggs and wife Mary of Maryland Heights; special friend, Sheila Watts of Bridgeton; and 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
