Melvin Francis Worley, 91, of New Florence, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026 at his residence. Melvin was born in New Florence, on Feb. 21, 1935, to Margaret Pearle (Moore) and Samuel Francis Worley.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a diesel mechanic at International Harvestor Diesel Truck, which later became Gateway International. He worked for the combined companies for over 30 years. After retiring from Gateway International he went to work at Stiegman-Wells Pump Service and Supply and worked there several years.
Melvin married Dorothy Alene nee Moseley on May 19, 1956, at St. Peter’s Church, St. Charles.
He was preceded in death by parents, Samuel Francis and Margaret Pearle Worley; sons, Richard, John and Paul Worley; sisters, Winona Deeker, Edna Grotewiel, Dorothy Greishaber, Pauline Hoffman, Mary Arens, and infant twin sisters, Helen and Ellen; his brothers Kenneth, Homer, Dave, Don and Lee Roy Worley.
Melvin is survived by his wife Dorothy; children, Sam Worley and wife Sarah, of O’ Fallon, Cathy Marsch and husband Kevin of Hermann, Jeanie Adams of St. Peter’s, Pat Worley and wife Lynn of St. Charles, Veneta Worley of New Florence and Peter Worley of New Florence; sisters, Martha Potthaust of Warrenton and Doris Tuma of Montgomery City.
A funeral was held Wednesday, July 8 at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann. Graveside Services with military honors were held at St. Martin’s Cemetery Starkenburg.
