Michael Carl Martens, 79, of Hermann, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2024 at Caring Hearts and Hands Hospice, Columbia.
He was born Feb. 14, 1945, to George and Elly (Carlson) Martens in Aurora, Ill.
He was united in marriage to Rita Didier, Nov. 4, 1977, in Mendota, Ill.
Michael was a member of St. James Evangelical Church, Stony Hill.
He worked for Caterpillar Inc. in Aurora, Ill. as a tool room supervisor. He also taught at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, Ill.
Michael is survived by wife, Rita of Hermann; son, Robert Martens of Tonica, Ill.; daughters, Emily Ngui of Washington, and Rachel Martens of Seattle, Wash.; brothers, Gary Martens and wife Donna of Summerfield, Fla., and Alan Martens and wife Veronika of Oswego, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Friday, March 1, St. James Evangelical Church, Stony Hill, with Rev. Tom Lloyd officiating.
