New Haven Post 366 squads rack up nine victories

Throughout June and the majority of July, numerous Hermann baseball players ventured east into Franklin County to compete on three American Legion Post 366 teams out of New Haven.

Finishing 1-12 on the season, the 14U legion squad was led by Evan Presti with a .556 batting average.

Also in the top five in batting average were Caleb Pohlmann (.406), Tate Dixon (.308), Brayden Hoener (.250), Emmerson Binkholder (.200) and Korbyn Kottwitz (.200).

Presti also led the team with a .636 on-base percentage while Pohlmann (.625), Grady Korman (.625), Cody Meyer (.533) and Hoener (.444) rounding out the top five in that statistical category.

In addition to leading Post 366 in batting average and on-base percentage, Presti led the team in OPS (on-base plus slugging) with a 1.359, slugging percentage (.722), hits (10), singles (7), doubles (3), stolen bases (16) and runs scored (5).

Rounding out the top five in OPS were Pohlmann (1.025), Hoener (.744), Dixon (.708) and Meyer (.658).

Slugging their way into the top five along with Presti were Pohlmann (.400), Dixon (.308), Hoener (.300), Lane Schebaum (.200) and Binkholder (.200).

Joining Presti in the top five of hits were Pohlmann (6), Hoener (5), Dixon (4) and Kottwitz (4).

Pohlmann also had six singles to go along with four apiece from Dixon, Hoener and Kottwitz.

Schebaum and Hoener each also had a double to go with Presti’s three.

Pohlmann led the team with four runs batted in followed by three apiece from Presti, Hoener and Kottwitz.

In addition to Presti’s five runs scored, Meyer, Binkholder and Hoener each also scored four runs.

Olsen Rucker, Lane Groner, Pohlmann and Hoener each drew a team-leading six walks to go along with five free passes from Meyer and Korman.

Clinton Roberts and Pohlmann were each hit by a pitch three times to lead Post 366 in that department.

Jaxon Kallmeyer, Meyer and Presti were each hit by a pitch twice.

Also in the top five in the stolen base department were Binkholder (6) and the trio of Reid Steiner, Hoener and Pohlmann with five apiece.

Groner pitched 11 and two-thirds innings with 14 strikeouts while Binkholder struck out a team leading 22 batters pitching 11 and a third innings.

The lone win for the 14U squad was a 15-10 victory back on May 30 over St. Charles Post 312.

New Haven’s Post 366 15U squad went 4-12 on their season with two wins over St. Charles Post 312 by scores of 14-3 and 10-9 while also defeating the New Haven 14U squad 14-5 and 13-3.

John Puff led the New Haven Post 366 15U squad in batting average (.395), on-base percentage (.596), OPS (1.044), slugging percentage (.447), hits (15), singles (13), doubles (2), runs scored (17), walks (11) and hit by pitches (8).

Joining Puff in the batting average top five were Parker Thurman (.321), Caden Detterman (.310), Caleb Lottmann (.303) and Owen Yochim (.289).

That same quartet also joined Puff among the team top five in on-base percentage, OPS and slugging percentage.

Rounding out the top five in hits were Yochim (13), Detterman (10), Lottmann (9) and Wyatt Meyer (9).

Yochim and Detterman tied Puff for the team lead in doubles with two while Anthony Groner hit the lone home run of the season for the Post 366 15U squad.

Yochim also had to two lone triples for the squad donning dark green uniforms.

Meyer also led the team in RBIs with 12 followed by Yochim (10), Detterman (8), Eli Kohlbusch (7), Lottmann (6) and Thurman (6).

Behind Puff’s 17 runs scored were Yochim (14), Lottmann (11), Detterman (11), Kohlbusch (6) and Kaden Brinker (6).

Along with Puff, three other players drew 11 walks which included Lottmann, Detterman and Ayden Keen.

Thurman was also hit by a pitch eight times to tie for the team lead with Puff.

Detterman and Yochim each swiped 13 bases to tie for the team lead followed by Puff with 12 and the trio of Kohlbusch, Lottmann and Brinker stealing 11 bases apiece.

In terms of pitching, Lottmann led the team with 33 and a third innings pitched along with 36 strikeouts.

Similar to their 15U counterparts, the New Haven Post 366 17U baseball team finished 4-11-1 with wins over St .Clair (5-3), Wentzville (10-2), Troy (7-0) and Post 156 (9-2).

Groner led the 17U squad in batting average (.452), on-base percentage (.549), OPS (1.120), slugging percentage (.571), hits (19), singles (14), doubles (5) and strikeouts by a pitcher (47).

Swinging their way into the batting average top five were Weston Hecktor (.325), Puff (.286), James Orf (.281) and Yochim (.222).

Reaching base frequently along with Groner was Cole Brinker (.513), Orf (.465), Corbin Sadler (.439) and Hecktor (.426).

Slugging their way into the top five of that department along with Groner were Hecktor (.400), Puff (.357), Orf (.344) and Brinker (.304).

Along with Groner’s 14 singles, Hecktor added 10 to go with seven from Orf, six from Puff and five from the trio of Donovin Dailey, Brady Traub and Sadler.

Traub had the lone triple of the season while Hecktor drove in a team-leading 10 RBIs for the Post 366 17U squad.

Orf, Sadler and Groner tied for the team lead in runs scored with seven while Brinker was the most patient at the plate drawing a team-leading 14 walks.

Evan Scheer also reached double figures in walks drawing 12 free passes.

Sadler was hit by a pitch five times to lead the team while Scheer stole eight bases.

Brinker also pitched a team-high 29 and two-thirds innings with 24 strikeouts.
