Hosting Hermann’s Bearcats on Thursday, April 9 at Owensville Golf Course (OGC), Cullen VanLeer’s Dutchmen looked to score a conference point during a Four Rivers Conference (FRC) dual against Hermann on their home course.
Firing a team score of 174, Owensville defeated Hermann who had a team score of 197.
Leading the Dutchmen against Hermann was Koen Brooks who carded a nine-hole round of 40 followed closely by Keigan Glaser with a 43 and Jack Tesson with a 44.
Rounding out the contingency of varsity Dutchmen golfers were Grant Huebler (47) and Brenner Thompson (49).
Hermann’s EJ Lindahl shot the top score of the meet with a one-over par round of 33.
Owensville’s JV Dutchmen also shot a round led by Andrew Budnik with a 44 to go along with a 45 from Zach Barch and Brock Heidbrink.
Colton Echols also carded a nine-hole round of 46 while Austin Huntsman shot a 52.
Only the top four scores are figured when it comes to team scoring in a high school golf match.
During last Wednesday’s St. James Tiger Classic at St. James Golf Club, Brooks finished in the top 10 good for a medal after his seventh-place round of 88 over 18 holes.
Also competing for the Dutchmen at St. James were Budnik (100), Tesson (105), Glaser (106) and Thompson (110).
Playing Monday in a FRC tri-meet against Sullivan and Union, Owensville will face St. Clair today (Wednesday) at Meramec Lakes Golf Course before competing tomorrow (Thursday) during the Linn Tech Tri in Osage County before getting an early preview of the FRC Tournament during Friday’s Sullivan Invitational at Sullivan Golf Course.
