Welcoming seven other schools to Owensville High School’s (OHS) Dutchmen Field last Tuesday night, Matt Candrl’s Dutchmen and Dutchgirl track and field athletes looked to top the team standings during the OHS Open track meet.
Winning 14 events between the boys and girls, OHS’ Dutchmen topped their team standings with 239.5 points ahead of Father Tolton (137), Steelville (108.5), South Callaway (88.5), New Haven (62), Sullivan (42.5) and Wellsville-Middletown (7).
Zach Holtmeyer won both the 800-meter and 1600m runs for the Dutchmen with times of 2:05.66 and 4:44.43 respectively.
Finishing behind Holtmeyer for OHS in the boys 800m run were Drake Dietrich (5th, 2:21.75), Cris Reyes (8th, 2:25.37), Evan Reed (10th, 2:27.06), Grayson Lairmore (11th, 2:28.78), Dylan Dietrich (12th, 2:28.90) and Dominick Eikermann (19th, 2:56.52).
Ty Price completed an orange and black sweep of the distance events for the Dutchmen winning the boys 3200m run in a time of 12:18.81.
Charlie Katsov won both the boys 110m and 300m hurdles in times of 16.99 and 44.57 respectively.
Evan Boyer (4th, 20.11), Christopher Kroon (5th, 21.14) and Daimeyn Rogers (6th, 21.79) also placed in the top six for Owensville in the boys 110m hurdles.
Sprinting to first place in the boys 4x100m relay for Owensville in 46.16 was the foursome of Liam Rasmussen, Connor Wellman, Mason McDaniel and Charlie Katsov.
Also winning the boys 4x100m throwers relay for the Dutchmen in 51.91 was the quartet of Kien Bayless, Wyatt Bone, Andrew Budnik and George Wnuk.
Continuing their winning ways in relay, the Dutchmen 4x200m relay team of Charlie Katsov, Wellman, Rasmussen and McDaniel posted a first-place time of 1:36.53.
Winning the boys 4x800m relay team for OHS in 9:02.83 was the foursome of Drake Dietrich, Holtmeyer, Steven Buddemeyer and Reyes.
Taking second in the event with a time of 9:51.73 was the Dutchmen squad of Dylan Dietrich, Lairmore, Price and Reed.
Wellman led seven Dutchmen sprinters in the boys 100m dash with a second-place time of 11.87. He was followed in the standings by Rasmussen (11th, 12.55), Gianluca Brucculeri (12th, 12.57), Cohen Dare (14th, 12.65), Christian Cedillo (18th, 12.94), Peyton Pohlmann (26th, 13.52) and Andrew Budnik (29th, 13.80).
A wave of orange and black also ran the 200m dash which included Wellman (5th, 25.34), Logan Valley 7th, 25.72), Ricky Marquez (9th, 25.79), Brucculeri (11th, 26.02), Dare (13th, 26.31), Kylen Menz (14th, 26.44), Cedillo (16th, 26.57), Rogers (20th, 26.87), Diego Lansford (23rd, 27.04), Bentley Luecke (26th, 27.40), Braden Perkins (28th, 27.57), Pohlmann (31st, 27.83), Maddix Lebish (33rd, 28.34) and Weston Baumli (38th, 32.16).
Steven Buddemeyer (5th, 58.22) and Bo Buddemeyer (11th, 1:02.10) took a lap around the track for the Dutchmen in the boys 400m dash.
Throwing the shot put for the Dutchmen included Budnik (2nd, 12.48m), Wyatt Bone (5th, 11.31m), Cullen Green (11th, 10.10m), Wnuk (16th, 9.38m), Carson Eberlin (23rd, 7.82m) and Rylee Schuchardt (24th, 6.91m).
Additional OHS throwers in the boys discus that did not throw in the shot put include Zayden Garver (7th, 32.43m), Tyler Menz (11th, 29.33m) and Ryder Wehmeyer (23rd, 22.52m).
Coleton Connor (4th, 1.60m), Kylen Menz (5th, 1.55m), Perkins (5th, 1.55m), Garver (9th, 1.55m) and Lebish (12th, 1.45m) competed for OHS in the boys high jump.
Dutchmen taking eight spots in the top 10 of the boys triple jump included Valley (2nd, 10.85m), Kylen Menz (3rd, 10.37m), Bo Buddemeyer (4th, 10.36m), Tyler Menz (5th, 10.28m), Brucculeri (7th, 9.99m), Wehmeyer (8th, 9.73m), Lebish (9th, 8.57m) and Baumli (10th, 6.93m).
Topping their team standings with 192 points, Owensville’s Dutchgirls finished ahead of Father Tolton (152.5), New Haven (117), South Callaway (87.5), Steelville (75), Lighthouse Preparatory Academy (33), Wellsville-Middletown (13) and Sullivan (8).
Ariana Katsov sprinted her way to another victory in the girls 100-meter dash with a winning time of 12.98 leading five Dutchgirls in the top 10 of the event.
Dutchgirl sprinters also in the 100m dash included Brianna Bodine (3rd, 13.65), Leah Hayes (5th, 14.06), Lilly Sample (8th, 14.38), Abbey Quilacio (9th, 14.46) and Arianna Baguio (12th, 14.83).
OHS senior Emma-Lee Wehmeyer swept both hurdle events winning both the 100m and 300m hurdles in times of 16.56 and 52.01 respectively.
Bodine took third in the 100m hurdles (18.62) and fifth in the 300m hurdles (59.42) while Hayes was second in the 300m hurdles (54.22) and sixth in the 100m hurdles (19.25).
Winning the girls 4x800m relay for Owensville in a time of 12:10.24 was the foursome of Hannah Gehlert, Ella Davidson, Leola Hamann and Cylee Reed.
Halle Engelbrecht won the girls high jump for OHS clearing 1.40m while Sample also placed fourth clearing 1.35m.
Quilacio led four Dutchgirls in the top eight of the girls pole vault clearing 2.75m to win the event.
Placing behind Quilacio for OHS were Violet Lavalle (4th, 2.30m), Katsov (6th, 2.15m) and Baguio (8th, 2.15m).
Dutchgirl distance runners in the girls 800m run included Gehlert (4th, 2:43.61), Davidson (9th, 3:07.74), Hamann (11th, 3:20.30), Meredith Reed (12th, 3:27.98), Cylee Reed (13th, 3:29.98) and Morgen Schmidt (17th, 3:42.81).
Gehlert also placed second in the girls 1600m run with a time of 5:55.57.
Sprinting to a second-place time of 56.24 in the girls 4x100m relay was the Dutchgirl foursome of Jordan Duncan, LaValle, Quilacio and Katsov.
Taking third in the girls 4x100m Throwers Relay with a time of 1:14.55 was the OHS team of Rylee Dare, Lexis Manning, Kinley Troncin and Maci Armstrong.
Placing fourth in 2:02.01 in the girls 4x200m relay was the Dutchgirl team of Sample, Duncan, LaValle and Engelbrecht.
Throwing for OHS in the girls shot put were Manning (3rd, 9.50m), Dare (5th, 9.48m), Gracelyn Raymond (17th, 7.31m), Troncin (18th, 7.26m), Armstrong (25th, 6.30m) and Lydia Wilson (27th, 5.30m).
Dare (2nd, 27.61m) and Manning (4th, 24.13m) scored team points for the Dutchgirls in the girls discus while Delyla Crowe also placed 16th with a mark of 18.76m.
Katsov (2nd, 4.81m), Wehmeyer (3rd, 4.48m), LaValle (8th, 4.20m) and Bodine (10th, 4.08m) posted top-10 marks for OHS in the girls long jump.
Wehmeyer (2nd, 9.35m) Engelbrecht (7th, 8.75m) and Baylee Sieckmann (11th, 6.58m) also leaped for OHS in the girls triple jump.
Competing last night (Tuesday) in the Union Relays at Union High School’s E.A. Stierberger Stadium, OHS Track and Field will host the annual OHS Relays Friday night beginning at 3:30 p.m., with field events.
