OMS Boys 4x800-meter relay, Salamone set new track school records

NEW HAVEN — Owensville Middle School (OMS) track and field athletes had an eventful two meets last week competing in the rain at New Haven last Tuesday and over the weekend Saturday under sunny skies in the Missouri Middle School State Track and Field Championships held at Waynesville High School.

Going for unofficial All-State accolades, OMS Track sent a numerous athletes with several ending up in the top eight of their respective events earning unofficial All-State honors.

Having her eyes set on nine feet all season, OMS eighth-grade Ambrosiah Salamone cleared it and then some on her way to a state title in the Class 3-4 girls pole vault clearing 2.82 meters (9 feet, 3 inches) breaking the previous OMS school record of nine feet even by Katie Candrl.

Kiera Hamm also earned unofficial All-State honors placing eighth in the Class 3-4 girls pole vault clearing 2.12m.

Another school record went down earlier in the week at New Haven when the OMS Dutchmen 4x800m relay team of Trace Lange, Robbie Rodriguez, Roman Crowe and Davey Nichols won the race in the rain with a winning time of 9:41.37 breaking the previous record of 9:46.97 from the 2017 OMS Relays ran by the team of Austin Terry, Paul Tyree, Bam Wizeman and Aden Steineker.

Nearly breaking it again in Waynesville, the OMS Dutchmen 4x800m relay team of Lange, Rodriguez, Crowe and Nichols posted a fifth-place time of 9:42.99 in the Class 3-4 boys race garnering unofficial all-state honors.

Seth Mitcham sprinted his way to a 12th-place time of 12.66 in the Class 3-4 boys 100m dash at Waynesville while Ricky Ringeisen also placed 33rd in 27.82 during the Class 3-4 boys 200m dash.

Alexis Christensen posted a 20th-place time of 6:20.36 for Owensville in the Class 3-4 girls 1600m run at Waynesville while Max Altemeyer also placed 27th in 5:34.21 during the Class 3-4 boys 1600m run for OMS.

Jace Duerr finished just over a second shy of the top eight with a 16th-place time of 17.29 in the Class 3-4 boys 100m hurdles at Waynesville for OMS’ Dutchmen.

Sprinting to a 22nd-place time of 59.53 in the Class 3-4 girls 4x100m relay was the OMS Dutchgirl foursome Allyson Smith, Elle Albright, Salamone and Hamm.

Also finishing 22nd in the Class 3-4 boys 4x400m relay with a time of 59.15 was the OMS Dutchmen quartet of Bo Nowack-Schlottog, Logan Hackstedt, Kison Curtman and Mitcham.

Finishing 25th in the Class 3-4 girls 4x200m relay for Owensville was the team of Aubrey Mogenson, Allison Evans, Gracie Rosselli and Smith in 2:08.48.

Running to a 21st-place time of 1:52.15 in the Class 3-4 boys 4x200m relay was the Owensville squad of Ricky Ringeisen, Brayden Kemp, Duerr and Curtman.

Five seconds out of the top eight in the Class 3-4 girls 4x400m relay in a 15th-place time of 4:51.64 for Owensville was the team of Kennedy Reams, Hamm, Christensen and Salamone.

Taking 16th in the Class 3-4 Boys 4x400m relay for Owensville in a time of 4:14.15 was the team of Lange, Rodriguez, Crowe and Nichols.

Evans (27th, 8.77m) and Adelyn McDonald (34th, 8.27m) competed for OMS’ Dutchgirls in the Class 3-4 Girls Shot Put.

Improving on her mark in the shot out, Evans placed 17th in the Class 3-4 girls discus with a throw of 21.68m while McDonald placed 41st with a throw of 17.33m.

Reams (52nd 1.20m) and Jolie Vandegriffe (56th, 1.20m) competed for OMS’ Dutchgirls in the Class 3-4 Girls High Jump.

Liam Kramme and Garrett Ringeisen both cleared 2.30m in the Class 3-4 boys pole vault to finish tied for 13th place in the state.

OMS Track will end their season tomorrow (Thursday) at Union and a complete recap from their rain-soaked meet at New Haven will be in next week’s Republican.
