OMS’ Dutchmen end three-game week with sweep of Union

Capping a stretch of three games in four nights last week, Owensville Middle School (OMS) Dutchmen basketball teams coached by Jarett Payne and Shane Hunt entered action last Thursday night looking for a sweep of the host Wildcats at Union Middle School.

Seeing their seventh-grade counterparts posting a 50-20 victory over Union, Hunt’s eighth-grade Dutchmen held the host Wildcats to 12 points from the second quarter on during their 45-22 victory.

Ricky Ringeisen led Hunt’s Dutchmen scoring all of his game-high 16 points in the first half.

Will Brune also reached double figures netting eight of his 10 points in the third quarter.

Brayden Oldfather and Trace Lange each chipped in six points while Ivan Phillips hit a first-quarter 3-pointer for three points.

Eli Davidson and Roman Crowe rounded out the Dutchmen scoring against Union with two points apiece.

Grayson Kelley led Payne’s seventh-grade Dutchmen at Union netting all of his game-high 13 points in the first half.

Brock Schneider joined Kelley in double figures scoring seven of his 11 points in the first half.

Liam Kramme nearly made it three double-digit Dutchmen scoring all eight of his points in the fourth quarter.

Barrett Knight and Logan Meyer both added five points to go along with the quartet of Mason Steinbeck, Archer Medlock, Matthew Allen and Bentley Crews with two points each.

OMS Dutchmen at Pacific

After dropping a 37-28 decision against the host Indians on the road in Pacific last Tuesday night, the eighth-grade Dutchmen picked up their seventh-grade counterparts with a 52-40 victory behind 19 points from Lange and 14 more from Brune.

Ringeisen narrowly missed making it three OMS eighth graders in double figures with nine points.

Oldfather added four points to go along with three points apiece from Josiah Gehlert and Crowe.

Atticus Budnik and Knight led Payne’s seventh-grade Dutchmen and Pacific with nine points apiece while Kelley scored four of his six points in the second half.

Schneider rounded out the OMS scoring at Pacific with four points.

OMS Dutchmen vs. Washington

Hosting Washington’s Blue Jays last Monday night inside the Owensville Elementary School (OES) gym, Hunt’s Dutchmen knew they would be in for a tall order with Washington fresh off a tournament title at Union.

Coming out on the short end of a 45-37 final score, Lange led Hunt’s eighth-grade Dutchmen netting 10 of his team-high 16 points in the second half.

Brune added six of his eight points in the first half while Ringeisen and Oldfather each added six points.

Crowe hit a first-quarter free throw for one point rounding out Owensville’s scoring against Washington.

During Owensville’s 38-22 loss to Washington in seventh-grade action, Knight caught fire in the fourth quarter scoring 10 of his game-high 11 points in the final six minutes for the Dutchmen.

Kelley added three points followed by the trio of Budnik, Schneider and Kramme with two points apiece.
