OMS Dutchmen place fifth at Hermann Relays

HERMANN — Scoring team points in 10 events, Matt Candrl’s Owensville Middle School (OMS) Dutchmen racked up 52 team points good for fifth place at the Hermann Middle School (HMS) Relays last Tuesday afternoon in Hermann.

Owensville finished behind Washington (108), North Point (108), Troy South (71.5) and Pacific (54.5) in the team standings.

Starting the meet on the track in a winning way, OMS’ Dutchmen 4x800-meter relay team of Robbie Rodriguez, Trace Lange, Roman Crowe and Davey Nichols posted a winning time of 9:47.38 missing the school record by around a second.

Seth Mitcham (5th, 12.36) and Nathan Dobbs (17th, 13.65) sprinted down the track in the boys 100m dash while Ricky Ringeisen (9th, 27.09) and Brayden Kemp (19th, 29.97) turned the corner for OMS in the boys 200m dash.

Rodriguez (2nd, 2:23.39) and Max Altemeyer (11th, 2:42.09) took two laps around the track in the boys 800m run.

Altemeyer improved his position in the boys 1600m run with a sixth-place time of 5:35.32 while Brock Rutledge also finished four laps around the track in a 13th-place time of 6:01.74.

Ayden Gutermuth (16th, 23.15) and Tate Dixon (17th, 24.62) competed for OMS’ Dutchmen in the boys 100m hurdles.

Sprinting to a seventh-place time of 53.69 in the boys 4x100m relay for Owensville was the quartet of Kison Curtman, Grayson Kelley, Dobbs and Mitcham.

Also taking sixth for the Dutchmen in the boys 4x200m relay in a time of 1:48.88 was the team of Ricky Ringeisen, Curtman, Dobbs and Mitcham.

Winning the boys 4x800m relay earlier in the meet, the same Dutchmen foursome also posted a second-place time of 4:05.93 in the boys 4x400m relay.

Logan Hackstedt (17th, 8.73m) and Carter Price (22nd, 8.13m) threw the shot put for the Dutchmen while Dixon (22nd, 19.40m) also competed in the discus.

Crowe and Lange both cleared 1.50m in the boys high jump for Owensville to finish tied for fourth place.

Liam Kramme (4th, 2.30m) and Garrett Ringeisen (10th, 1.85m) both finished inside the top 10 for Owensville in the boys pole vault.

Kemp (13th, 8.49m) and Mason Steinbeck (14th, 8.28m) competed for the Dutchmen in the boys triple jump.

OMS’ Dutchgirls placed eighth in the team standings with 33 points led by Ambrosiah Salamone winning the girls pole vault with a clearing height of 2.45m.

On the track, the Dutchgirl distance running duo of Kennedy Reams and Alexis Christensen posted the best finishes for the orange and black in the girls 800m run.

Reams was fifth in 2:52.39 while Christensen was seventh in 2:55.33.

Aubrey Mogenson and (18th, 15.21) and Elle Albright (19th, 15.24) sprinted down the track for OMS’ Dutchgirls in the girls 100m dash while Gracie Rosselli (11th, 31.67) and Ella Niederer (21st, 35.17) competed in the girls 200m dash.

Taking a lap around the track for Owensville in the girls 400m dash was the duo of Jolie Vandegriffe (18th, 1:16.05) and Ollie Ray (24th, 1:26.63).

Albright (17th, 21.36) and Allyson Smith (21st, 23.02) competed for OMS’ Dutchgirls in the girls 100m hurdles.

Sprinting to a ninth-place time of 59.92 in the girls 4x100m relay for Owensville was the foursome of Kiera Hamm, Salamone, Smith and Mogenson.

Claiming a bronze medal in the girls 4x200m relay with their third-place time of 2:01.14 was the OMS Dutchgirl squad of Rosselli, Hamm, Mogensen and Salamone.

Also taking third place in the girls 4x400m relay was the Dutchgirl team of Reams, Christensen, Salamone and Hamm in a time of 4:40.58.

Rounding out the Dutchgirl relay contingency was the 4x800m relay foursome of Jolie Vandegriffe, Reams, Rosselli and Christensen with a sixth-place time of 12:00.85.

Allison Evans (9th, 8.81m) and Adelyn McDonald (11th, 8.63m) placed right around the top 10 of the girls shot put for the orange and black.

Ellie Bay (17th, 15.82m) and McDonald (18th, 15.76m) finished inside the top 20 of the girls discus for Owensville.

Niederer’s best finish in field events for Owensville came in the girls triple jump with a 12th-place leap of 7.73m.

Scheduled to run last night (Tuesday) at New Haven, OMS Track will return to action Saturday at the Missouri Middle School Championships scheduled to be held at Waynesville High School.
