Playing for the last time this season on the Owensville Elementary School (OES) gym floor, Owensville Middle School (OMS) Dutchmen basketball teams scored by Jarett Payne and Shane Hunt took on St. James’ Tigers last Thursday night capping the regular-season portion of their schedule before heading into tournament play at Sullivan and St. Clair which is scheduled to begin tonight (Wednesday).
Seeing their seventh-grade counterparts fall 57-24 to the visiting St. James Tigers, Hunt’s eighth-grade Dutchmen split the twin bill with a 56-46 victory behind 14 points from Brayden Oldfather.
Joining Oldfather in double figures were Trace Lange with 11 points and Will Brune with 10 markers.
Ricky Ringeisen netted six of his eight points in the first half while the trio of Ivan Phillips, Jace Duerr and Josiah Gehlert each chipped in three markers.
Ryder Hane and Roman Crowe both scored two points to cap the Dutchmen scoring against St. James.
Back on Thursday, Jan. 15, Hunt’s eighth-grade Dutchmen posted a 47-32 victory over Sullivan behind 16 points from Lange and 10 points from Ringeisen.
Tuesday, Jan. 13 twin bill action at Rolla saw both Dutchmen squad fall to Rolla 38-28 in seventh-grade action and 45-23 in the eighth-grade contest.
Brune and Phillips led the eighth-grade Dutchmen with six points apiece.
