Opening the December portion of their season on the road, Owensville Middle School (OMS) Dutchmen basketball teams coached by Jarret Payne and Shane Hunt faced off against Cuba’s Wildcats in a Highway 19 showdown at Cuba Middle School.
After seeing their seventh-grade counterparts post a 43-9 victory in their game, Hunt’s 8th grade Dutchmen completed the doubleheader sweep with a 61-19 win.
Leading 6-2 after one quarter, Payne’s Dutchmen used a 19-5 second-quarter run helping them to a 25-7 halftime before going on to their second victory over the season.
Brock Schneider led the 7th grade Dutchmen with 10 points followed closely by nine points from Atticus Budnik.
Nathan Dobbs chipped in six points to go along with five points apiece from Liam Kramme and Archer Medlock.
Grayson Kelley kicked in four points followed by two points from Barrett Knight rounding out the 7th grade Dutchmen scoring at Cuba.
Hunt’s eighth-grade Dutchmen led 29-15 at halftime before a 21-0 third-quarter run vaulted them to their third victory of the season.
Will Brune led a balanced 8th grade Dutchmen scoring attack with 11 points.
He was followed closely with nine points apiece from Brayden Oldfather and Trace Lange.
Josiah Gehlert added eight points followed by five points from Ivan Phillips.
Chipping in four points apiece were Roman Crowe, Eli Davidson and Ricky Ringeisen.
Ryder Hane tossed in three points while Kison Curtman capped the Dutchmen scoring with two points.
