WARDSVILLE — Opening their season at Falcon Athletic Complex on the Blair Oaks High School campus in Wardsville, Owensville Middle School (OMS) track teams coached by Matt Candrl both placed third in the boys and girls team standings last Friday afternoon.
On the boys side of the track, Robbie Rodriguez led OMS’ Dutchmen with a winning time of 2:22.90 in the boys 800-meter run passing Eldon’s Gabriel Wilcox with around 100 meters to go in the race.
Max Altemeyer (9th, 2:56.89) and Anthony Grube (10th, 3:00.47 also posted top-10 times in the boys 800m run.
Jace Duerr was OMS’ other event winner on the boys side posting a first-place time of 16.40 in the boys 100m hurdles.
Seth Mitcham led four Dutchmen in the boys 100m dash with a second-place time of 12.30.
He was followed in the event by orange and black sprinters Nathan Dobbs (15th, 13.56), Kison Curtman (16th, 13.64) and Bo Nowack-Schlottog (23rd, 14.35).
Ricky Ringeisen picked up two team points for OMS’ Dutchmen with a seventh-place time of 27.47 in the boys 200m dash.
Braden Kemp also placed 16th in the event with a time of 30.52.
Garrett Ringeisen (17th, 1:16.15) and Logan Hackstedt (18th, 1:17.48) competed for Owensville in the boys 400m dash.
Liam Kramme posted a 12th-place time of 6:49.89 in the boys 1600m run for OMS.
Leading the OMS Dutchmen relay teams with a second-place time of 4:22.25 in the boys 4x400m relay was the orange and black foursome of Davey Nichols, Trace Lange, Mitcham and Rodriguez.
Placing fourth in a time of 1:59.70 in the boys 4x200m relay was the Dutchmen quartet of Mason Steinbeck, Duerr, Kemp and Hackstedt.
Sprinting to a fourth-place time of 54.02 in the boys 4x100m relay for Owensville was the boys team of Grayson Kelley, Dobbs, Curtman and Mitcham.
Alexander Pratt posted his best result of the meet at Blair Oaks for OMS with a 19th-place throw of 7.52m in the boys shot put.
Isaac Dablemont also threw his best distance in the shot put with a 22nd-place mark of 7.04m.
Carter Price’s best mark of the meet for Owensville came in the boy discus with a 27th-place throw of 10.53m.
Nichols led Dutchmen long jumpers with a seventh-place leap of 4.28m.
OMS’ Dutchmen racked up 57.5 team points to place third behind Eldon (182) and Blair Oaks (136).
Tying for third place as a team with 89 points alongside St. Peter’s (Jefferson City), OMS’ Dutchgirls finished behind Blair Oaks (139) and California (118).
Similar to Rodriguez in the boys 800m run, the OMS Dutchgirl duo of Alexis Christensen and Kennedy Reams also passed St. Stanislaus’ Lacey Lehmen with around 100m to go in the girls 800m run to go to post first and second-place times of 2:59.04 and 2:59.56 respectively.
Kiera Hamm also cleared 1.68 meters for OMS’ Dutchgirls to win the girls pole vault.
Allison Evans threw her way to a silver medal with a second-place toss of 8.82m in the girls shot put while Adelyn McDonald also picked three team points for her sixth-place mark of 8.07m.
Lydia Barnwell posted her best throw of the day in the girls shot put placing 17th with a mark of 6.30m.
McDonald (5th, 17.65m) and Ellie Bay (9th, 17.02m) posted top-nine throws in the girls discus for Owensville while Lilyana Rossi finished 19th with her best mark of the meet at 12.62m in the girls discus.
Elle Albright sprinted her way to a medal with a fifth-place time of 14.73 in the girls 100m dash for Owensville.
Also sprinting for OMS in the girls 100m dash were Liliana Colula (14th, 15.69), Hamm (16th, 15.73) and Avalon Breese (20th, 18.94).
Kadie Williams (17th, 34.15) and Ella Niederer (19th, 34.56) posted their best finishes on the track for OMS in the girls 200m dash.
Gracie Rosselli (3rd, 20.61) and Addi Meyer (4th, 20.84) both earned medals for their top-four times in the girls 100m hurdles for the Dutchgirls.
Sprinting to a fourth-place time of 1:01.15 in the girls 4x100m relay was the Dutchgirl foursome of Allyson Smith, Hamm, Meyer and Albright.
Also taking fourth for the Dutchgirls in a time of 2:31.96 in the girls 4x200m relay was the quartet of Sophia Beard, Addison Ryerson, Kami Ridenhour and Jolie Vandegriffe.
Earning a medal for their third-place time of 5:26.44 in the girls 4x400m relay was the OMS foursome of Albright, Vandegriffe, Evans and Christensen.
Reams claimed an individual medal by clearing 1.22m in the girls high jump good for sixth place.
Adding to her third-place finish in the girls 100m hurdles, Rosselli also placed third in the girls long jump with a leap of 3.77m for the orange and black.
Niederer also earned a medal in the girls triple jump with a sixth-place leap of 7.07m.
OMS Track and Field will return to action on Monday, April 6 hosting the OMS Open at Dutchmen Field.
