Orville Oliver “Whoop” Oldfather, 90, of Owensville, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Frene Valley in Owensville.

He was born on July 24, 1928, to Ray Estes and Leo (Harmon) Oldfather, in St. Louis.

He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Hughes, Oct. 4, 1958, in St. Louis.

Orville served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post 6133, Bricklayers Union #1 for 50 years, and a former member of the United Church of Christ in St. Louis. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by parents, Ray and Leo; brothers, Bill, Thomas, Arthur, Dunny and John Oldfather; and sisters, Catherine Ramos, Ruth Moeller, Sue Lindsey, Jane Pott and Pauline Swan.

He is survived by wife, Norma, of the home; son, Ray Oldfather and wife Anita of Owensville; daughters, Sheilah Schoolcraft and husband Steve of Washington, Cathy Fath and husband Jim of Owensville and Carolyn “C.J.” Basham and husband Doug of Crocker; and nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 20 from 9-11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville with VFW service at 10:45 a.m.

Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Chapel with Pastor Andrew Yount officiating, Interment will be at Countryside Memorial Gardens with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to VFW Post 6133.
