The Owensville Chamber of Commerce is preparing for their upcoming Santa’s Parade of Lights event being held Friday, Dec. 5.
The annual event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with activity and refreshment booths set up on First Street, a s’mores bonfire by Harvest Church near the Moose Lodge and Santa Claus available for photos and visits inside the old Circle D building. Children’s choir singing will begin around 6:45 p.m. followed by Santa’s lighting of the tree at the corner of North First Street and Peters Avenue and then the parade.
All are invited to take part in the fun by hosting Christmas-centered activity booths for children of all ages, participating in the parade with a lighted display, providing monetary support or enjoying the event as a spectator. Local businesses and other organizations can serve food or beverages.
For those participating in the parade, Best of Show trophies will be awarded for both float and side-by-side categories.
This year there will be no snowflake drop but the Chamber is seeking to add new, fun activities to the event in its place.
Participation forms are available by contacting the Chamber of Commerce or visiting their Facebook page.
