Throughout the day this coming Saturday, the above headline will apply to the parking lot between Owensville High School and OHS Field.

That is because there will be a 10-team eighth-grade volleyball tournament in addition to a four-team high school baseball jamboree going on simultaneously throughout the day.

Tournament volleyball action will begin with pool play at 8 a.m., running continuously throughout the morning and early afternoon until approximately 3:30 p.m., when bracket play starts.

Teams making up the orange pool will include the host Dutchgirls, New Haven Lady Shamrocks, Sullivan Lady Eagles, St. James Lady Tigers and Washington Lady Blue Jays.

Black pool teams will include Steelville’s Lady Cardinals, Hermann’s Lady Bearcats, St. Clair’s Lady Bulldogs, Pacific’s Lady Indians and Union’s Lady Wildcats.

Owensville will open their portion of pool play bright and early at 8 a.m., against New Haven before getting a break for one match.

They will continue pool play at 9:30 a.m., against Washington before ending the morning portion of pool play at approximately 11:45 a.m., against St. James.

After a two-match break, Owensville will conclude pool play against Sullivan at 2 p.m., before waiting to see if they finish in the top two of their pool and who finishes in the top two of the black pool.

The four teams that advance to bracket play will face each other in semifinal action at 3:30 p.m., before the semifinals losers play for third place and semifinal winners play for the championship at 4:15 p.m.

Jamboree baseball will feature the host Dutchmen competing against Hermann’s Bearcats, Belle’s Tigers and Cuba’s Wildcats.

Action will start high noon with a Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) showdown between Belle and Cuba with game two being a Gasconade County diamond showdown between Owensville and Hermann.

Game three will pit Hermann against Belle followed by game four being another Highway 19 diamond match up between Owensville and Cuba.

Another Highway 19 showdown in game five will pit Hermann against Cuba before the jamboree concludes with a Highway 28 grudge match between Belle and Owensville.

Each game will last three innings and approximately 45 minutes.
