Come Monday, another season of Owensville High School fall sports will be underway with the first day of practice.

Matt Candrl’s OHS Cross Country teams along with Jamie Ridenhour’s Dutchgirl volleyball squads and Hannah Koppelmann’s Dutchgirl softball teams will simultaneously kick off their respective seasons at 8 a.m.

Candrl’s Dutchmen and Dutchgirl harriers will meet from 8-9:30 a.m., each morning next week at Buschmann Park preparing for their season-opening meet at the Fleet Feet Classic in Arnold on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

Ridenhour’s Dutchgirl volleyball teams will hold tryouts for varsity, junior varsity and freshman squads from 8-10:30 a.m., in the OHS main gym. Practice times on Thursday and Friday of next week were yet to be determined.

Dutchgirl volleyball will open their season on Monday, Aug. 29 hosting Linn at 5 p.m.

Reaching the district championship game last fall against Sullivan, Koppelmann’s Dutchgirls will begin their quest for another title-game appearance with practices all next week at OHS Field from 8-10:30 a.m.

Koppelmann’s diamond Dutchgirls will open their season at the People’s Bank Back to School Softball Classic hosted by Sullivan High School at the Campbell-Chapman Sports Complex beginning on Friday, Aug. 26.

Nathan Cabot’s Owensville Dutchmen football team will be the last fall squad in orange and black to hit the practice field beginning Monday night at 5 p.m., on the Dutchmen Field turf.

Coming off a 9-3 season last fall, Cabot’s Dutchmen will look to improve on that mark with a different but familiar opponent for their season opener.

Dropping Potosi from their schedule, Owensville will open their season in a Highway 19 showdown at Dutchmen Field against Cuba’s Wildcats on Friday, Aug. 26 with a 7 p.m., kickoff at Dutchmen Field.

OHS fall sports fans will also have to wait until that Friday to find out what class and district their respective teams will be in.

This is because that is the release date set by the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA).

Cross Country fans will have to wait even longer as MSHSAA will release those district assignments on Friday, Sept. 9.
