R-2 Board of Education seeks nominations for ‘Dutch Pride’ recognition program

Posted

In 2005, the Board of Education initiated a recognition program for Dutch Pride Alumni and the Dutch Pride Supporter.

A plaque is maintained with the names of the honorees and the year. The Gasconade County R-2 School District has received so much support from so many throughout the history of the district, that the Board of Education wants to recognize the individuals who have given so much to the schools and community with the Dutch Pride awards, according to district officials.

The Board of Education has recognized individuals who have made contributions to the Gasconade County R-2 schools and community.  Alumni Dutch Pride award will go to an alumnus who has provided support and the Dutch Pride Supporter awards goes to a non-alumni.

Any community person, parent, or student can nominate a person with the completion of a one-page nomination form. They will be screened by a committee who will make recommendations to the Board for final selection. Dutch Pride recipients will be recognized at the high school awards program in May.

“The Board wants to recognize the individuals who make a difference for our kids through their giving of time, energy, and work,” said Superintendent Dr. Chuck Garner. “So many individuals do so much in this community to help kids we felt it was important to recognize the supporters who make a difference.”

A special plaque is displayed in the high school and each year the Dutch Pride Supporters’ name and year are added. Nomination forms can be picked up at the Administrative Office or on the district website dutchmen.us. Nominations are due at the Administrative Office by April 15.
