Gasconade County R-2 Board of Education will be holding its monthly meeting a week later than usual to close out the 2022-23 fiscal year.
Superintendent Dr. Jeri Kay Hardy said on Friday that the board plans to finalize its budget on June 26 during the delayed meeting.
“We will finalize our budget, but like last year, we are waiting on the dollar value modifier (DVM),” Hardy said, referring to the district’s additional revenue.
The dollar value modifier, which passed last year, allows “a school district in Gasconade County that covers part of another county to use the county financial figures that would provide the highest amount of state funds for the district under the state School Foundation Formula Program that allocates state funds to public schools. Part of that formula is based on financial data of the district’s county.”
DVM will bring in roughly $1 million more into the district.
“We gave the raises last year, so we are looking at adjusting our salary schedule for those who have completed work beyond a bachelor’s degree,” Hardy said. “If you are taking additional college hours, we have adjusted the salary schedule to remain competitive with other districts in the conference.”
Salaries will be discussed during the June 26 meeting as well.
In preparation to close the 2022-23 budget and opening fiscal year 2023-24, the board will have a budget workshop which is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at the Administrative Building.
The board is also scheduled to have a closed session for personnel discussion. An agenda item for open discussion is a proposal to declare a “critical shortage employment” situation in the district.
In other business, the staff participated in an active intruder training in Franklin County on Thursday.
The district’s annual administrative retreat was last week to discuss the upcoming school year. June 28 is the last day of summer school.
