Gasconade County R-2 School District’s special services program had about 35 students participating Friday in the 15th Special Olympics track and field program hosted by the Gasconade County R-1 School District in Hermann. An estimated 900 Special Olympic student athletes participated in the field events along with sensory activities specifically for the younger children. R-2 students parade past the grandstands at Hermann High School’s Bearcat Memorial Field. Special Olympians, their teachers and staff assistant, and volunteer high school students all were treated to lunch grilled by members of the Hermann Lions Club and Masonic Lodge.
