Richard Lawrence Klott, 68, of Hermann, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023, at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann.

He was born July 24, 1955, the son of the late Clarence H. and Genevieve M. (Beuke) Klott in Washington.

Richard attended St. George Grade School and St. George High School until 1970 when St. George High School closed. He then attended Hermann High School and graduated in 1973.

Richard was a member of St. George Church, Hermann. He worked with his brother Vincent doing surveying with Klott Surveying since 1973. Prior to that he worked for Birk and Wunderlich Surveyors. He also worked with his father and brother cutting firewood and lumber and farming.

Richard was a numbers guy, he was always figuring out how many things it took to complete a job. He did welding and was always trying to improve his machinery. He enjoyed working in the hay fields, especially baling square bales. He also enjoyed riddles, playing washers and going to Hardees in Hermann and socializing with the locals.

Richard is survived by brother, Vincent Klott and wife Jovita (Bader) of Hermann; aunts, Antoinette (Beuke) Osseck, of Krakow, and Mary Jo (Beuke ) McDonald, of Washington; and many cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 4–8 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. at St. George Church, Hermann, with Father Philip Niekamp officiating.

Burial will be at St. George Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. George Church or St. George School.
