Robert Oran Shoemaker, 85, Owensville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, at Gasconade Manor Nursing Home in Owensville.
He was born March 22, 1937, to Logan and Edna (Morgan) Shoemaker in Owensville.
He was united in marriage to Leona Mae Rehmert, March 7, 1964, in Owensville.
Oran was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he has served as Deacon for 40 years and was a Youth Sunday School teacher for approximately 20 years. He was a member of Eastern Star of Owensville and Masonic Lodge of Cuba. He enjoyed going to county fairs and was active in getting the tractor pull started at Crawford County Fair. He started the annual hayrides at Mt. Pleasant Church around 1980. He enjoyed visiting with people and invited them to come to church. He always had young high school boys working for him, who he trained and mentored to become young hardworking men.
He was preceded in death by parents Logan and Edna; wife Leona Mae; siblings Ralph, Jim and Donald Shoemaker and Edna Faye Hock; daughter-in-law Debra Shoemaker.
He is survived by children Lisa Hudson and husband Brett and Mark Shoemaker and Sandra Dews-Fuchs all of Owensville; brothers Doyle Shoemaker and wife Darlene of St. Clair and Stanley Shoemaker and wife Kathy of Owensville; grandchildren Sonya, Angela and Brittany Hudson, Logan Shoemaker and wife Kim and Morgan Shoemaker; and great-grandchildren Michael and Isabella Hudson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 3, at Gottenstroeter Chapel with Pastor Glen Duncan officiating. Burial was in Countryside Memorial Gardens.
