Another new team.

That will be the case this year for the annual 2020 Owensville Softball Tournament.

Russellville’s Lady Indians will take the place of Capital City’s Lady Cavaliers during this year’s tournament at OHS Field on the Owensville High School campus.

Kicking softball action off at 9 a.m., on Saturday, will be the host Owensville Dutchgirls and New Haven’s Lady Shamrocks.

Following at approximately 10:30 a.m., New Haven will face South Callaway’s Lady Bulldogs.

Beginning the afternoon portion of games will be the tournament’s newest team in Russellville facing South Callaway at noon.

New Haven will end their portion of the round-robin tournament going up against Russellville at 1:30 p.m.

South Callaway will face the host Dutchgirls at 3 p.m., to cap their day on the R-2 campus.

Matching up for the first time ever, Russellville and the host Dutchgirls will play the final game of the tournament at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Each game will be played with a 90-minute time limit.

If a game is tied after seven innings and there is time remaining, the game will continue. If time has ran out and the game is tied, the international tiebreaker will be used until a winner is decided. A mercy rule of 15 runs after three innings and 10 runs after five innings will be in effect.

The best record after three games will determine the winner of the tournament championship plaque.

If there’s a tie, head-to-head competition will be the first tie-breaker followed by run differential (counting a maximum of seven runs per game) and fewest runs allowed if the first two tie-breakers do not break the tie.

A $3 admission charge for adults and $2 for students will be good for the entire day. There will also be a concession stand operating throughout the day of the tournament over at the football field.

In the event of inclement weather, the tournament will not be rescheduled to a later date.

R-2 officials encourage spectators to be limited to immediate family members only.
