Gasconade County Sheriff Scott Eiler (center), Lt. Rob Roberson (left), and Chief Deputy Maj. Roger Armstrong greet Owensville Elementary School students on Monday as they began the 2023-24 school year with a full day of classes. Also waiting to greet students was OES staff member Nancy Kohrmann. Eiler, Roberson and Armstrong were joined by deputy Steve Goodwin on Tuesday morning as they greeted Hermann Elementary School students to their first day of classes. Opening day in in the Gasconade County R-2 School District brought 574 students into the OES building. Enrollment at the other buildings included 416 middle school students, 331 at Gerald Elementary School, and 598 at the high school for an opening-day total of 1,919 students in grades pre-K-12. Classes in the Gasconade County R-2 School District will not be in session on Monday, Sept. 4, to observe the national Labor Day holiday.
