Sheriff Steve Pelton has confirmed that a body found by searchers was Jamie Jost-Hammock.

Jost-Hammock was reported missing after she walked away from a residence in the area May 18, just days before her 44th birthday.

Franklin County deputies working with a K-9 search team located the body at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 25. The body was discovered in a heavily wooded area near Westwoods Road and Quiet Valley Court near St. Clair.

The body was transported to the St. Louis County medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and identification.

The identity of Jost-Hammock was confirmed following an autopsy conducted May 26.

Pelton says that no foul play is suspected in the death.
