Social distancing observed for Saturday’s Ribfest

Lonigro’s Supermarket held a Ribfest last Saturday, April 18. The event, which began at 10 a.m, had owner Larry Lonigro struggling to keep up with demand at 11 a.m. “I can’t believe we are this busy this early,” he exclaimed. By noon, he had managed to catch up to the demand, but customers were steady throughout the afternoon.

At the end of the day, Lonigro had sold 300 slabs of ribs and over 100 each of pork steaks and brats. Sides were also available for takeout.

To help customers adhere to social distancing guidelines, the food was served under one end of the awning in the garden center. Most customers seemed perfectly happy spending their time waiting in the sunshine and visiting with others from a six-foot distance.

Another Ribfest will be held the day before Mother’s Day, May 9, and will probably become a monthly event until autumn.
