Steven Buddemeyer scores 100th career wrestling win  during Marshfield Duals

Eying a third trip to the podium at state, Dutchmen senior Steven Buddemeyer reached a big milestone over the weekend during the Marshfield Duals Wrestling Tournament in southwest Missouri.

Pinning St. James’ Elijah Eads in :26, Buddemeyer became the latest member of the Owensville Dutchmen wrestling century club posting his 100th career victory.

In addition to his win by fall, Owensville defeated St. James 41-24 behind wins by fall from Mason Turner in 1:05 over Pretson Rothe at 150 pounds, Liam Rasmussen over Lucas Bell in :52 at 157 pounds and Will Coppedge over Mac Damewood in 3:25 at 175 pounds.

Bo Buddemeyer also won his match at 138 pounds by a 15-0 technical fall over Ian Lucas while Zach Barch (165) and Logan Kiesling (190) both earned wins by forfeit with St. James open in those weight classes.

Also posting a 48-30 team win over Buffalo, Owensville got wins by forfeit from Cayson Faulkner (126), Turner and Cael Walker (190).

Earning wins by fall were Bo Buddemeyer over Gavin Silipino (1:18), Steven Buddemeyer over William Hogue (:21), Will Coppedge over Peyton Smith (1:41) and Payten Pendleton over Zane Phelan (2:52).

Rasmussen won a 15-13 decision over Dylan Gonzalez while Rylee Schuchardt also captured a 6-0 decision against Jackson Carter.

Falling 37-36 against the host Blue Jays from Marshfield, Owensville got wins by fall from Bo Buddemeyer (3:22), Steven Buddemeyer (:40), Rasmussen (1:22), Coppedge (1:58), Walker (1:06) and Schuchardt (1:09).

Dropping a 42-30 team decision against Mountain Home (Ark.,), Owensville had wins from the Buddemeyer brothers both by fall in addition to Turner and Rasmussen also by fall.

Coppedge earned a win by forfeit at 175 pounds.

Dutchmen at Washington

Opening their season last Thursday at Washington High School against the host Blue Jays and Rolla Bulldogs, Owensville dropped team decisions against Washington (65-9) and Rolla (60-12).

Bo Buddemeyer pinned Washington’s Ethan James in 6:00 while Pendleton won a 4-1 sudden-victory decision over Washington’s Oliver Lohmeyer at 285 pounds.

Both Buddemeyer brothers scored wins by fall against Rolla with Bo pinning Daniel Cahill in 4:56 and Steven pinning Carson Mickem in 5:54.

Peyton Pohlmann pinned Washington’s Levi Bankhead in 1:04 during JV boys wrestling action against Washington while Killian Carpenter also pinned Elijah Williams in 3:34 at 285 pounds.

Dutchgirls at Marshfield

Going 2-3 during the Marshfield Duals, Brandon Howard’s Dutchgirls earned team wins over St. James and Sullivan by scores of 42-18 and 36-24 respectively.

Against the Lady Tigers, Owensville got wins by forfeit from Brianna Bodine (100), Payton Busenhart (110), Anieya Bergesch (125), Violet Lavalle (130), Rylee Dare (155), Madalynn Thomas (170) and Maci Armstrong (190).

Facing Sullivan, Brooke Tainter earned a win by fall over Khloe Thacker in :51 at 170 pounds while Lavalle pinned Abby Firebaugh in 3:11.

Earning wins by forfeit for the Dutchgirls against Sullivan were Bodine, Busenhart, Bergesch and Lexis Manning (190).

Falling 35-18 against Buffalo, Rylee Dare pinned Aja Watson in 1:25 at 155 pounds while Bodine and Busenhart picked up additional wins by forfeit.

Dropping a 72-9 team decision against the host Lady Blue Jays, Bodine pinned Sophia Hall in 1:38 while Busenhart won a 9-4 decision over Chloe Ellis.

In their 58-22 team loss against Mountain Home, Dare and Manning earned wins by fall while Tainter won by forfeit at 170 pounds.

Busenhart also won a 14-2 major decision over Cami Blyzes.

Over in Washington, Owensville’s Dutchgirls dropped a 37-36 team decision against Washington before falling 65-18 against Rolla.

Busenhart earned a win by forfeit against Rolla while Lavalle and Dare both won their matches by fall accounting for Owensville’s 18 points.

Picking up wins by fall against Washington’s Lady Blue Jays for the orange and black were Bodine, Busenhart, Bergesch, Lavalle, Dare and Manning.
