Susan Bowers, 76, of Bland, passed away surrounded by her loving family Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, in St. Louis.

Sue was born Aug. 9, 1947 to Cecil Brown and Mabel (Jobe) Brown, in Lonedell.

She was united in marriage to Richard Bowers, Sr., March 28, 1970, in Lonedell.

Sue was a graduate of Washington High School and in addition to raising her family, was employed at Walmart in Pacific, Union and Owensville where she retired in 2014 after thirty-three years of service.

She attended the Assembly of God Church. She loved the outdoors and would spend time at the family cabin whenever she got a chance.  Fishing for anything that would bite and hunting deer in her younger years always brought joy to her life, but nothing made her happier than dining out, especially at oriental buffets. Whether it was a spur of the moment trip with her granddaughter or taking one of the many bus tours, she loved to travel with Colorado being one of her favorite destinations. Most of all, she loved visiting with those who called her “Mema”.

She was preceded in death by parents, Cecil and Mabel Brown; husband, Richard Bowers, Sr.; brother, Jerry Brown; and sisters, Patricia Speakes and Linda Stephens.

Sue is survived by sons, Richard Bowers, Jr. of Bland and Ray Bowers of Beaufort; grandchildren, Alyssa Turner (Timmy) and Dalton Bowers both of Union; great grandchildren, Nola Turner and Rosie Turner; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 26, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., with a funeral service at 12 p.m., at Midlawn Funeral Home, Union.  Burial will follow the service at Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union.
