Three baseball Bearcats earn postseason honors

Reaching the semifinals of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3, District 7 Baseball Tournament hosted by Hermann High School at Dick Ochsner Ball Park, the host Bearcats saw their season end at the hands of the eventual district champion Centralia Panthers.

For their efforts, Hermann had three players named to the MSHSAA Class 3, District 7 All-District team as voted upon by the coaches while sophomore catcher Carter Humphrey was the lone Bearcat selected to the All-Four Rivers Conference (FRC) Second Team as a catcher.

Also one of 20 players named to the MSHSAA Class 3, District 7 All-District Team, Humphrey led the Bearcats throughout their season in batting average (.371), on-base plus slugging percentage (.900), slugging percentage (.457), hits (26), singles (20) and runs scored (18).

Humphrey also finished second on the team with a .443 on-base percentage and 10 stolen bases.

Posting a season-high three hits against Crosspoint Christian, Humphrey also had two singles in five games against Cuba, Community R-6, Elsberry, Owensville and Crosspoint Christian.

Finishing with six doubles on the season, Humphrey had a pair of Dixon to go along with one against Centralia, Missouri Military Academy (MMA), Cuba and Crosspoint Christian.

He also drove in two runs twice in games against Community R-6 and Crosspoint Christian in addition to scoring two runs in action versus Wellsville-Middletown, Cuba, Owensville, Community R-6 and Crosspoint Christian.

Drawing five walks on the season, Humphrey earned a free pass against Union, New Haven, South Callaway, Wellsville-Middletown and Community R-6.

Of his 10 stolen bases, Humphrey swiped a season-high two bags against Cuba and Community R-6.

Fellow Bearcats named to the Class 3, District 7 All-District Team were senior Bracksten Carr and senior Nolan Ogroski.

Carr was third on the Bearcats roster with 13 hits and two doubles while also throwing a team-high 35 and two-thirds innings for the Hermann pitching staff.

Batting right at the Mendoza line (.200), Carr also posted a .292 on-base percentage, .528 OPS and a .231 slugging percentage.

Recording 13 hits along with Carr was Kruz Eldringhoff while he also tied for fourth with 11 singles alongside Cole Brinker and Corbin Sadler.

He was also second on the team with 15 runs scored while tying Humphrey for second on the Bearcat roster with 10 stolen bases.

Among his 13 hits, Carr had two in games against Owensville and Wellsville-Middletown with all of those base hits being singles.

Carr also doubled in a pair of Highway 19 diamond showdowns against Cuba and Community R-6.

Driving in a season-high two runs against Owensville, Carr also scored three runs MMA and Crosspoint Christian.

Drawing two walks in FRC action against Sullivan, Carr also stole three bases against MMA during first-round district baseball action in Hermann.

While on the pitching mound, Carr posted a season-high seven strikeouts against the Community R-6 Trojans.

Ogroski was second on the team with three doubles while adding seven runs batted in (RBI) good for third place on the team.

Posting a .269 slugging percentage and .638 OPS good for fourth on the team, Ogroski also record a .212 batting average and .369 on-base percentage good for fifth place in those statistical categories.

Finishing with 11 hits on the season, Ogroski had a double against Centralia and Owensville while also recording singles in action against Crosspoint Christian twice, Russellville, Sullivan, Cuba, Owensville, New Haven, Wellsville-Middletown, MMA, Centralia and Community R-6.

Driving in a season-high two RBIs against Owensville and Wellsville-Middletown, Ogroski also scored twice against Crosspoint Christian.

Drawing a pair of walks against Cuba, Ogroski also stole two bases in Highway 19 action against Community R-6.

Joining the Bearcat trio on the MSHSAA Class 3, District 7 All-District Team were Centralia sophomore Cooper Gehring, North Callaway junior Coltyn O’Neal, Centralia senior Chase Kempker, South Callaway sophomore Eli Hutchison, Centralia senior Anthony Ford, Centralia sophomore Grant Kendrick, North Callaway senior Carson Bassett, North Callaway senior Chance Green, Centralia senior Luke Waltermate, North Callaway senior Tucker Sheets, Centralia senior Cole Higginson, South Callaway senior Graden Pontius, North Callaway freshman Chett Bassett, Centralia freshman Oliver Bohlmeyer, South Callaway junior Garrett Wright and Centralia sophomore Hank Lee.

Named to the All-FRC Second Team along with Humphrey were Pacific sophomore Gavin Haddox, St. Clair senior Caleb Bradshaw, St. Clair senior Nate Short, Pacific sophomore Colton Burt, Union senior Ryan Stowe, Union sophomore Damon Blankenship, St. James senior JV Meurer, St. Clair junior Jude Dierker, St. Clair senior Clayton Ingram, Union senior Tucker Lemons and Sullivan senior Alex Toews.

All-FRC First Team baseball selections included Union senior Klay Muser, Owensville senior Chase Weirich, Owensville senior Chris Allen, Sullivan senior Mitchell Garner, Union sophomore Timmy Purschke, Owensville sophomore Tucker Sassmann, Pacific junior Grant Kossuth, Pacific senior Nate Ball, Pacific senior Colton Kossuth, Sullivan junior Landon Doza, Sullivan senior Chase Blue, St. Clair senior Easton Martin, Sullivan junior Raiden Redd, Union senior Zac Voss and Union senior Logan Hansel.

Pacific’s Colton Kossuth was named the FRC Player of the Year.
