Hosting a pair of Interstate 44 foes inside Hermann Middle School’s (HMS) gym, HMS Bearcat basketball teams coached by Dylan Walker and Todd Anderson welcomed Cuba’s Wildcats and St. James’ Tigers into northern Gasconade County.
Last Tuesday against St. James, Hermann split the doubleheader taking the eighth-grade contest 53-26 while their seventh-grade counterparts dropped a 46-10 decision to the visiting Tigers out of Phelps County.
Miles Eikermann led three 8th grade Bearcats in double figures netting 10 of his game-high 15 points in the first half.
Will Schutt followed Eikermann with 12 points hitting for 10 of them in the first quarter.
Cale Lampkin rounded out the double-digit trio with 11 points.
Nathan McDaris hit for four of his six points in the second half while Caleb Pohlmann scored all four of his points in the second half.
Laramie Bristow hit a fourth-quarter 3-pointer for three points while Lane Bristow rounded out the eighth-grade Bearcat scoring against St. James on a second-quarter bucket for two points.
Doubling up St. James 16-8 after one quarter, Hermann took a 30-13 halftime lead before improving to 4-1 on the young season.
For Walker’s seventh-grade Bearcats against St. James, Bentley Kolks helped Hermann avoid a first-half shutout trailing 29-2 at halftime.
Kolks added a third-quarter bucket giving him a team-high four points for the blue and white.
Mason Roche and Calen Morgan each hit a 3-pointer in the second half rounding out Hermann’s scoring against St. James.
HMS vs. Cuba
Welcoming their Highway 19 neighbors to the south last Monday night, Hermann looked to start last week off on a winning note against the visiting Cuba Wildcats.
Building up a 29-13 halftime lead, Anderson’s eighth-grade Bearcats went on to post a 47-26 victory during their Highway 19 cat fight.
Eikermann topped his uniform number of 20 scoring 19 of his game-high 23 points in the first half.
Schutt also reached double figures scoring all 10 of his points in the first half.
Lane Bristow chipped in seven points in addition to two points apiece from the trio of Chris Groner, Lampkin and McDaris.
Emerson Binkholder capped the scoring for Hermann with a third-quarter free throw for one point.
Blitzing Cuba 23-0 in the first half, Walker’s seventh-grade Bearcats went on to a 41-11 victory over the visiting Wildcats.
Jaxon Kallmeyer led the blue and white netting seven of his game-high nine points in the first half.
Matthew Tallent was very close behind scoring all eight of his points in the first half for the Bearcats.
Landon Wilson and Logan Tyree each chipped in five points while Roche had four points.
Franklin Dildine, Caleb Overkamp and Kolks all add three points apiece while Kayden Brinker rounded out the Hermann scoring with a fourth-quarter free throw for one point.
HMS’ Bearcats will close the 2025 portion of their season on the road tomorrow (Thursday) night in Pacific against the Indians with a 5:30 p.m., tip time for seventh-grade action.
