Jerry Froelker 1954-2026

Jerry Lee Froelker, 71, Gerald, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Washington.

He was born on July 2, 1954, to Victor “Biddie” and Virginia (Havener)  Froelker in Washington.  From the very beginning he marched to the rhythm of his own drum. On Feb.  14 the music faded, but the echo of his song will carry on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

A proud 1972 graduate of Owensville High School, Jerry came of age in an era of peace signs, vinyl records, and long summer nights. He believed in doing things his own way, working hard, loving big and never letting the world dull his spirit.

Jerry spent many years working at Bull Moose before eventually trading routine for the open road with Witte Trucking Company.

Music wasn’t just something Jerry listened to — it was a love he shared with others.  One of his last acts was purchasing a guitar for his special friend, Rachell, and encouraging her to learn the chords to his favorite song, “American Pie” by Don McLean.

After his retirement, Jerry spent most of his time at home with his beloved cats, who were constant companions and loyal members of his laid-back little world. He had a soft spot for animals and a quiet tenderness that showed in the way he cared for them.

Jerry lived simply, laughed loudly and loved deeply. He found joy in life’s small moments and believed kindness wasn’t just something you talked about — it was something you lived.

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor; and brother-in-law, Bob Drewel.

His greatest pride was his family. Jerry is survived by his mother,Virginia of Gerald; children, Brian Froelker and friend Jessica Robart of Kimberling City, Jennifer Crosby and husband Brad of Owensville and Jeffrey Froelker and wife Yessica of Edmond, Okla.; grandchildren to whom he was known as “Grandpa Jerry”, Sarah, Garrett, Tucker, Braxton, Lillian and Charlotte; brother, James Froelker and wife Terry; sister, Janice Drewel of Creve Coeur; and a circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who were more like extended family.

Visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 20, followed by a Celebration of Life at Leslie United Methodist Church in Leslie, with Pastor Mary Neinhauser officiating. Interment will follow in the Leslie United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In true Jerry fashion, the family asks that instead of flowers, you honor his memory with random acts of kindness. Smile at a stranger. Help someone in need. Play your favorite song a little louder or memorials to Franklin County Humane Society.

Arrangements entrusted to Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville.
