James Licklider 1941-2026

James Lewis Licklider, 84, Owensville, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his residence.

He was born June 5, 1941, to the late Solomon and Ida Mae (Pinnell) Licklider in St. Louis.

He was united in marriage to Connie Mae Fuchs July 8, 1967, in Owensville and they were blessed with two children.

Jim proudly served his country in the U. S. Army.

Following his military service, he worked as a heavy equipment operator and eventually started his own business, Licklider Excavating and Heavy Equipment Repair in Owensville.

Jim was baptized at First Christian Church in Owensville.

His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing and dancing. He especially enjoyed being with his children, and attending the volleyball and basketball games of his grandchildren. Jim also loved being with people and was always willing to lend a hand or offer advice when needed. We will never forget how much he enjoyed fried fish and ice cream. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by parents, Solomon and Ida Mae.

Jim is survived by wife, Connie of their home; children, John Licklider and wife Terry of Cuba and Cindy Licklider of Owasso, Okla.; grandchildren, Perry Ratcliff and friend Elena of Albuquerque, N.M., Rachel Strauser and husband Griffin of Sullivan and Casey Licklider of Cuba; and great-grandson, Clay Michael Strauser; siblings, Lloyd Licklider and wife Betty, Juanita Horstman and husband Fred, Charles Licklider and wife Marilyn and Kathy Stack and husband Corky; along with many nieces, nephews, wonderful friends and neighbors that always had his back.

Memorial services were held Saturday, March 14 at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville, with Rev. Gary Mace officiating. Interment was in Licklider Cemetery at Jake’s Prairie.
