An Owensville man charged following a drug-related warrant search July 9 with allegations of felony narcotics trafficking and child endangerment was scheduled for his arraignment this morning in Gasconade County Associate Circuit Court.
Dylan Durant Carter, 44, was charged with two counts of second degree trafficking in drugs, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and three counts of child endangerment in a warrant requiring a $50,000 cash-only bond. He is jailed in Franklin County and was to appear before Associate Circuit Judge Ada Brehe-Krueger at 9 this morning.
Gasconade County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group (LANEG) served a search warrant at Carter’s mobile home that morning in the 800 block of South Hickory just outside the city limits of Owensville. Seized with one 9 mm handgun, a vehicle reported stolen out of Steelville, approximately 64 grams of methamphetamine and 22 fentanyl capsules. Lawmen also recovered a variety of controlled substances in the form of prescription pills, according to a release from Sheriff Scott Eiler.
Drug paraphernalia commonly associated with the use and distribution of illegal controlled substances was also seized.
“Due to unsafe living conditions within the residence, the three juveniles were taken into protective custody by the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri Children’s Division,” according to a report from Eiler.
According to the probable cause statement filed as the application for the warrant, Carter, a convicted felon, is currently on probation and was is prohibited from possessing a firearm. The firearm was located in Carter’s bedroom, along with the narcotics, and was not secured to limit access by the children.
He is also charged with a felony count of unlawful use of a weapon while in possession of a felony controlled substance.
“The Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office thanks the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group (LANEG) for its continued partnership and assistance in addressing illegal drug activity within the community,” Eiler’s release stated.
Carter’s attorney, Paul O. Schmanke, has filed motions seeking to have his bond amended and shorten time.
