Posting a 14-8 victory in their season opener Friday night at home against Dixon’s Lady Bulldogs, Hannah Koppelmann’s Owensville Dutchgirl softball team looked to carry that momentum into the weekend and the Moberly Softball Invitational.

Dutchgirls also recording a hit against Westran included Dallas Miller, Shae Abernathy, Halle Thompson and Lilyana Rossi.
In addition to Moss’ three runs scored, Ryan Miller, Dallas Miller and Abernathy each scored a pair of runs.
Thompson earned the complete-game win pitching four innings allowing nine runs (six earned) and 11 hits and one strikeout with no walks.
Facing Palmyra’s Lady Panthers in the consolation semifinals, Owensville led 3-2 after three innings before being unable to overcome 10 runs over the last two frames of their 15-11 loss in six innings.
Moss, Ryan Miller and Dallas Miller each had three hits while Abernathy drove in a team-high four runs.
During their 11-1 loss to Marceline in their tournament opener at Moberly, Ryan Miller walked and scored the game’s lone for Owensville on a Hannah Keeney RBI.
Opening their season last Friday against Dixon, Owensville plated eight first-inning runs highlighted by a Rylee Dare bases-clearing double for her lone hit of the game.
Scoring in each frame except for the bottom of the second inning, Owensville went on to a 14-8 victory over their Highway 28 neighbors to the west.
Ryan Miller also drove in three runs on three hits and scored twice for OHS against Dixon.
Abernathy added three hits, two runs scored and an RBI while Myla Lauth scored a pair of runs as a courtesy runner.
Hosting St. Francis Borgia last night (Tuesday), OHS will play another home game tomorrow (Thursday) night against Linn’s Lady Wildcats.
