Area high school football, volleyball and softball teams learned their district assignments and classifications Friday morning from the Missouri State High School Activities Association.
Some districts remained the same while other saw different teams come and go.
In football, both districts changed for Jed Leeper’s Hermann Bearcats and Randy Crowe’s Owensville Dutchmen.
Staying in Class 2, District 2, teams staying with the Bearcats include Duchesne’s Pioneers and Montgomery County’s Wildcats.
Moving into Class 2, District 2 from larger classes include Confluence Prep Academy Charter (C4D3), Miller Career Academy (C5D1) and Valle Catholic out of Ste. Genevieve (C3D2).
Jefferson (Festus) will also move into Class 2, District 2 from Class 2, District 1 last fall.
Bowling Green stayed in Class 2 going to district seven while Cuba was bumped to Class 3, District 5 due to their cooperative agreement with Steelville and Priory moved up to Class 3, District 3.
Randy Crowe’s Dutchmen were moved from a St. Louis area district into central Missouri and Class 3, District 4.
Class 3, District 3 making the move to district four along with Owensville were St. Francis Borgia’s Knights and Wright City’s Wildcats.
Rounding out the rest of the Class 3, District 4 field is Eldon’s Mustangs, Fulton’s Hornets, Hallsville’s Indians and Southern Boone’s Eagles.
Thanks to their cooperative agreement with New Haven in softball, Hermann’s Lady Bearcats were bumped up a class from Class 2 last fall into Class 3, District 5.
Blair Oaks moved over from Class 3, District 2 into Class 3, District 5.
Comprising the rest of the Class 3, District 5 field are Boonville’s Lady Pirates, California’s Lady Pintos, Eldon’s Lady Mustangs, Fulton’s Lady Hornets and Southern Boone’s Lady Eagles.
Hannah Koppelmann’s Dutchgirls nearly saw their district remain the same with the exception of a team dropping down from Class 4 and a new team this fall.
Remaining in Class 3, District 2 along with the Dutchgirls from last fall weer Cuba, St. Clair, St. James and Sullivan.
Lutheran South joined the district field after being in Class 4, District 2 last fall while Notre Dame (St. Louis) did not have a team last fall and was placed into the same district as Owensville for this season.
Jamie Ridenhour’s Owensville Dutchgirl volleyball team will have a familiar path to a district title as the Class 3, District 9 field comprising of Cuba, Salem, St. Clair, St. James and Sullivan remained the same.
Tess Yoggerst’s Hermann Lady Bearcats almost had the same scenario but picked up two Class 2 teams and a Class 3 school.
Remaining in Class 2, District 6 along with Hermann were Linn, Montgomery County and North Callaway.
Fatima and New Bloomfield made the move from Class 2, District 7 into district six while Veritas Christian Academy dropped a class from Class 3, District 6 into Class 2.
