We're seen as expendable

If you’re looking for a smoking gun reason to decide whether or not to vote for Donald Trump his ego may have provided it, on tape. In interviews with the highly respected reporter Bob Woodward, the President couldn’t resist trying to sound like the smartest guy in the room and said he absolutely knew COVID-19 was deadly dangerous before he came out and reassured everyone that all was under control and there was no need to worry or prepare. Why? He says he’s a cheerleader for America. What we needed was just a leader. No, the re-election timeline was paramount in his mind. Insider after insider (including family) have said he is solely focused on himself and the upcoming vote. He didn’t want a weakened economy to be foremost in people’s minds in November. He gambled that he could run out the clock against the virus. He bet, we lost. We’ve lost 197,000 lives well over 3 times our losses in the entire VietNam War. We’ve lost jobs at a record rate and the respect of the world community. Donald Trump has politicized a national emergency. He asks his followers to disdain masks and crowd into rallies, unprotected, in the name of party solidarity. That’s criminally abusive of the misplaced trust in him. It’s said that “character is destiny.” That’s insightful as it applies to each of us. It’s catastrophic when the person examined has the broad powers of the President of the United States and that person’s character is as flawed as Donald Trump’s.
