Woody Bogler Trucking (WBT) of Gerald is one of only seven freight carriers in Missouri to receive a Smartway Excellence award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
This is the fourth consecutive year WBT has earned the award. Lowering the emissions produced by their trucks is important to all employees.
Tracy Bogler, who now heads the company his late father, Woody founded, says the award is the result of a company-wide team effort. Bogler says he specs the trucks in his fleet, while the guys in the shop work to get the fuel economy maintained.
“Everyone else chips in too,” Bogler noted. These efforts result in trucks that produce fewer harmful emissions.
“For 17 years, the SmartWay Transport Partnership has worked with stakeholders in the freight industry to find innovative ways to reduce pollution from goods movement,” said Sarah Dunham, director of EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality. “We commend the innovation, drive, and collaborative spirit of our partners whose efforts are helping to meet the challenge of climate change and to create a healthier environment for us all.”
“Freight partners have a direct impact on all our region’s communities as they provide an essential service to our citizens,” said Acting EPA Region 7 Administrator Edward H. Chu. “We commend them for their voluntary environmental vigilance and invite other companies to join them in helping tackle the climate crisis.”
EPA’s SmartWay Transport Partnership is a market-driven initiative that empowers businesses to move goods in the cleanest, most energy-efficient way possible to protect public health and reduce emissions. Demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility and freight efficiency through SmartWay provides for a more sustainable and competitive marketplace.
