I was taking our son, Dennis Warden, to his first day of Kindergarten in Owensville which was held in the new addition to the old elementary school on Monroe street. I was really excited about doing this and had visualized in my mine how great it was going to be taking my first born to his first day of school and making sure he got to the right room which was on the far end of the building. After all he was young and surely didn’t remember where it was from when we had been there the week before. There were a lot of buses and traffic on Monroe street in front of the school so we parked on second street about a half block north of Monroe. We walked south on second street coming to the corner and Dennis dropped my hand, looked up at me and said, “You don’t have to go any farther, Mom, I am okay! He preceded to look both ways, cross the street, walk the distance to the entrance of the new addition and entered the building without once looking back at me! I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry but I knew in that instance that he would solve any problem that came his way in life.
