Owensville’s Casey’s General Store at the west end of Jefferson Avenue closed down for good at the end of business April 11 as the new store opened April 12 at the intersection of Highways 28 and 19 South.
Freshly mown grass and new sod outline the new Casey’s store April 12 at the intersection of Highways 28 and 19 South in Owensville on the opening day for the project completed by Williams Construction out of Springfield, Mo. The new facility replaces a Casey’s General Store which opened in late 1984 on West Jefferson Avenue. The site was formerly known as Administration Field and was the site of the community’s first four-year high school which was constructed in the 1920s. It was removed in the late 1960s and the western portion of the property remains the site of the R-2 School District’s Administrative Building.
