A Gerald man suffered minor injuries in a traffic accident Monday, Jan. 5 at 3:40 p.m.
The accident report, filed by Tpr. J. R. Brown with Troop C of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), states an unnamed 23-year-old Gerald man was traveling east on E. Springfield Road east of Hillcrest Drive. The report further states the man was traveling in a 2012 Ford Fusion too fast for conditions and failed to maintain control of the vehicle. He went off the left side of the roadway, struck a traffic sign and then a tree. Since the accident began in the city limits of Gerald, but continued outside the city limits, the Gerald Police Department, MSHP and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
The vehicle had extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
The driver was transported to Mercy Washington by Gerald ambulance. It is unknown whether a seat belt was in use at the time of the crash.
An arrest report filed by MSHP shows Logan A Merseal, 23, of Gerald was charged with Driving while Intoxicated at 4:24 p.m. that day at Mercy Washington and released.
