Owensville Middle School (OMS) and Owensville High School (OHS) sports fans looking for home sporting events over the coming week will have a wide selection to choose from.

Tomorrow (Thursday), Hannah Koppelmann’s Owensville Dutchgirl softball team will host Union’s Lady Wildcats in Four Rivers Conference (FRC) softball action with a 5 p.m., first pitch before hosting their annual home softball tournament on Saturday at OHS Field.

With St. Pius X (Festus) dropping out, the tournament has been reduced to a three-team round-robin format.

It will begin Saturday morning at 9 a.m., with Owensville taking on Pacific in a rematch of FRC action that went the way of the Lady Indians by a 16-2 final score.

That will be followed at 10:45 a.m., by Vienna’s Lady Eagles taking on Pacific’s Lady Indians with the tournament capped at around 12:15 p.m., with Owensville taking on Vienna.

Randy Crowe’s Owensville Dutchmen football team will look to start the FRC portion of their schedule on the right foot this Friday night hosting Sullivan’s Eagles with a 7 p.m., kickoff at Dutchmen Field after going 0-3 during the non-conference portion of their scheduled with losses to Eldon, St. Francis Borgia and Russellville.

In addition to Dutchgirl softball on their home diamond tomorrow (Thursday), Jamie Ridenhour’s Owensville Dutchgirl volleyball teams will host New Haven’s Lady Shamrocks in their opening match of the FRC portion of their schedule with a 4:30 p.m., first serve for the C-team match.

OMS Dutchgirl basketball will open their season in front of the home fans on Monday, Sept. 21 hosting Hermann’s Lady Bearcats inside the Owensville Elementary School (OES) gym with a 5:30 p.m., tip time for the seventh-grade contest.

They will also host Steelville’s Lady Cardinals at OES on Wednesday, Sept. 23 with a 5:30 p.m., start time for seventh-grade action.

Saturday, Sept. 19 will also be a park at your own risk Saturday with Owensville Youth Football Association (OYFA) action also taking place at 9 a.m., with the fourth-grade Dutchmen hosting Festus Black followed at 10:30 a.m., by the sixth-grade Dutchmen taking on Helias.

Owensville fifth-grade football will also be on the road in Jefferson City this Saturday facing Helias Gold at 10:30 a.m.
