Area youngsters qualify for Missouri State Fair pedal tractor pull

A trophy and a spot in the Missouri State Pedal Tractor Pull.

That is what was up for grabs Friday night at Memorial Park during the annual children’s pedal tractor pull at the Owensville Fire Department Community Picnic.

Boys and girls ages four through 10 were vying for a top-three finish overall for a trophy in addition to being among one of the top-three boys and girls in their respective age groups.

Out of six four-year-old pullers, five of them qualified for the Missouri State Pedal Tractor Pull for their finishes Friday night at Memorial Park.

Eli Hempelmann won first place overall with a full pull giving him not only a trophy but the first-place spot among four-year-old boys to qualify for the state pull to be held on Sunday, Aug. 20 during the final day of the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia.

Gracie Smith placed second overall with a pull of 39.8 feet also making her the first-place girl.

Cora Meyer finished third overall with a mark of 25.9 feet in addition to being second among four-year-old girls.

Mattie Baxter was fourth overall with a pull of 23.3 feet but third among four-year-old girls. Knox Okenfuss took fifth overall with a pull of 18.2 feet but earned a spot at the state pedal pull as the second-place boys in the four-year-old division.

Three pulls were needed to decide the five-year-old division.

Brayden Blaue emerged as the winner with a pair of full pulls and a third pull of 46 feet even.

Cash Reprogle followed Blaue in second place also with two full pulls and a third pull of 31.9 feet.

Hadley Hendrickson placed third overall and first amongst five-year-old girls with a pull of 41.3 feet.

Brayden Lowe took the third state qualifying spot among five-year-old boys with a pull of 29 feet.

River Evans (28 feet) and Emerson Salmons (21.8 feet) placed second and third among five-year-old girls behind Hendrickson clinching their respective spots in Sedalia.

Two six-year-olds also forced a third-and-deciding pull to break a tie after two full pulls.

Beckett Schneider recorded three full pulls to win first place overall and amongst six-year-old boys.

Drake Schlottach posted two full pulls and a third distance of 23.9 feet to place second overall and amongst six-year-old boys.

Clara Baxter placed third overall and first among six-year-old girls with a distance of 46.8 feet.

Colton Theiss was fourth overall and third among six-year-old boys to qualify for state with a pull of 31.1 feet.

Charlotte Okenfuss joined younger brother Knox as a state qualifier with a pull of 40 feet even placing her second among six-year-old girls.

Karoline Reams also qualified for the state pull with a mark of 27.6 feet placing her third among six-year-old girls.

Levi Hempelmann made it two Hempelmann state pedal pull qualifiers winning the seven-year-old division with a distance of 31.6 feet.

Andrew Allen placed second overall and amongst seven-year-old boys with a pull of 26.1 feet.

Freya Grayson placed third overall among seven-year-olds with a pull of 24 feet while also being the lone girl.

Taking the third-and-final state qualifying spot for the seven-year-old boys was Lane Johnson with a mark of 14.2 feet.

By virtue of registering a distance, all five eight-year-olds that competed Friday night qualified for the state pedal pull.

Jacob Licklider won first-place overall and amongst eight-year-old boys with a full pull.

Brooklyn Blaue placed second overall and first among eight-year-old girls with a pull of 46.6 feet.

Jayden Lowe followed in third place overall and second among eight-year-old girls with a mark of 28.4 feet.

Chestyn Basham placed second among eight-year-old boys and fourth overall with a pull of 24.5 feet.

Trinity Pratt clinched her spot at state with a pull of 23.1 feet placing her third among eight-year-old girls.

Another pull off ensued during the nine-year-old pedal pull Friday in Owensville.

Eli Wax needed three full pulls to top Bryli Blaue who posted two full pulls and a third distance of 46.4 feet.

Both pullers qualified for state as the top boy and girl amongst the seven nine-year-olds competing.

Silas Grayson took third overall and second among the boys with a full pull and a second pull measuring 25 feet.

Paisley Hempelmann made it a trio of Hempelmann state qualifiers with a pull of 19.5 feet giving her second place among nine-year-old girls.

Wade Berkemeyer also registered a pull of 39.4 feet giving him third place among nine-year-old boys clinching his spot at state.

Rounding out the pedal-tractor pulling competition were the 10-year olds.

Three young ladies needed a second pull to determine the top three after they all registered full pulls on their first attempt.

Kennedy Reams emerged in first-place overall with a second pull of 49.6 feet. Ella Homeyer followed in second place with her additional pull of 35.1 feet.

Natalie Theiss finished third overall with a second pull of 32.5 feet.

State pedal pull qualifiers among 10-year old boys included Garrett Baxter (46.2 feet), Matthew Allen (32.5 feet) and Liam Kramme (25.7 feet).

Area pedal tractor pullers will have two more chances to clinch their spot at the state pedal pull throughout the month of July.

Their first one will be during the annual Gasconade County Threshers Association show on Sunday, July 16 at Rosebud Community Park and on Friday, July 28 during the 76th Gasconade County Fair.
