BOA clears way to move pipeline in Montgomery

HERMANN — Legislation was approved Monday night by the Hermann Board of Aldermen that clears the way to relocate a section of natural gas pipeline in Montgomery County. The pipeline part of the city’s natural gas distribution system that serves several communities, including New Haven.

The city board needed only about 16 minutes to clear the light agenda of items facing the panel in its second regular session of the month.

The pipeline that travels through Montgomery County, across the Missouri River into Hermann and swings eastward to Berger and New Haven is aging. The communities served by the pipeline have been banking funds for years to finance repairs, setting aside money for what several years ago was estimated to be at least a $1-million project.

In other matters, the BOA confirmed the reappointment of John Behrer to the city’s Tree Commission; approved the renewal of a Conditional Use Permit for an owner-unoccupied guesthouse at 1214 Gutenbrg Street; approved the renewal of a Conditional Use Permit for Hermann Hill Condos guesthouse at 2089 Sandplant Road; and approved the renewal of a Conditional Use Permit for Stomp ‘n Grounds Espress Bar for outdoor liquor consumption at 214 E. 1st Street.

The board also approved the renewal of a license for Vehicle for Hire held by Hermann Crown Suites, 403 Market Street; ratified the approval for the printing of the city’s Visitor Guide by Walsworth at a cost of $10,920; and approved a Special Event Application filed by Midwest Blue Oval Club for a daylong car show downtown Aug. 22.
