Mayor Corey Novotney reminds Gerald residents to take advantage of the free bulk trash pick up week after next, Oct. 19 and 20. Bulk trash items may be set out with regular trash. Most Gerald residents have a Tuesday pick up date. Those residents on Canaan Road have their trash picked up on Monday. Residents are allowed to set out two large trash items such as couches and chairs, mattresses, carpet and flooring cut into four foot lengths and bundled (each bundle counts as one item), toilets, sinks, pallets and appliances.
Items not accepted include tire, construction debris, hazardous material, pull-out beds and rocks.
On Oct. 19 and 20, the city will also have a dumpster in the parking lot in Legion Park. City residents who have more than the limited two bulk items to dispose of may bring them to the dumpster. Bring a piece of mail to show Gerald residency.
Anyone who needs assistance in getting their items set out can contact city hall at 573-764-3340 for guidance.
The mayor has warned that residents have through the month of October to get their properties cleaned up before dire consequences take effect. He wants to take out the trash and keep it out.
Do your part to help clean up the town and then do a little more. Ask your neighbors if they need assistance getting items to the curb.
