Filing for Gasconade County R-2 School District board of education seats that will be open in April begins at 8 a.m. on Dec. 5 and is open from 3-5 p.m. on Dec. 26.
Superintendent Dr. Jeri Kay Hardy informed the board of the filing period during the Nov. 13 board meeting and reminded anyone who is interested that filing will not take place while the district’s offices are closed.
“Offices are going to be closed Dec. 21-22 and the 25 and we will be open on the 26 from 3-5 p.m. at this time,” Hardy said. “The requirements for candidates, they have to be a citizen of the United States, a resident taxpayer of the school district, they have to have resided in the district in Missouri for a minimum of one year immediately proceeding the election. They must be at least 24 years of age and can’t be delinquent on any state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes or real property taxes on the place of residence. If they are a past or present officer of any fee office, they have to verify that the office doesn’t owe any taxes to the state. They are required by law to file an affidavit stating these facts for the Missouri Department of Revenue. They cannot have been found guilty or pled guilty to a felony under the laws of Missouri or the United States or an offense committed in another state that would be considered a felony in Missouri.”
Hardy continued the candidate cannot be a sex offender or on the registered sex offenders list.
If they are the treasurer of a candidate campaign or committee, they have to have filed all disclosure reports with the Missouri Ethics Commission.
The terms of directors Molly Steinbeck and Debbie Landolt expire in April 2024.
